Are you an architect with a passion for design and a deep appreciation of a destination’s unique geographical character − its “sense of place”? In an effort to find “the architect,” FlyingTeeth is proud to announce its first ever Boutique Sustainable Hotel Design Competition.
Why we are looking for “the architect”?
It is FlyingTeeth’s long-term goal to develop a brand of boutique sustainable hotels in the Caribbean and Latin America. As we continue to build our team, we want to ensure the inclusion of only the most passionate and responsible individuals. When it comes to “the architect,” we are looking for someone who not only enjoys a team atmosphere but someone who is willing to work hand-in-hand with site planners and the design team we already have in place. We are looking for someone who’s approach is not only fresh, progressive and alternative, but someone who takes sustainability seriously and understands all of its components. Too often do architects focus on the “green” aspects of a building and forget all about the importance of cultural sensitivity − while a LEED rating has its benefits, a futuristic building slapped down in the middle of a small island is not exactly socially sustainable. We are looking for an architect that understands this dichotomy and is willing and excited to explore the nuances of a particular place. Whether that means incorporating ancient roofing techniques or meeting with a group of locals to understand the way climate affects building circulation, we want an architect that is willing to dig deep.
If you think this is you, please submit a cover letter, resume and any supporting documents (i.e. a portfolio, recent designs, etc.) that may convince our team of your ability and authenticity. After review, if we find there is a match, we will notify you with an invitation to our competition. Please see below for competition details.
On behalf of the FlyingTeeth team, we are sincerely excited to find “the architect” and look forward to hearing from you.
